i think it's very hard to write about someones work without sounding patronising or pretentious
because every time you do you're making the assumption that you're in a position to pass judgement on the work of other people
i really like dane martin's drawings
they are semi-comprehensible in the same way that i imagine other peoples thoughts would be if you could read them
which is very good, because that means they exist in themselves and not as a means to anything else (which is how art should be)
